Black-capped Chickadees and a Tufted Titmouse stop by for foodstuffs. The first Chickadee gets bumped off the Hand of Snacks but comes back at the end - sunflower seed still in his/her beak - to load up on seeds.

(28,422 posts)I sit out on my back deck, almost every nice night. Chicks come visit on the table when there are crumbs there. If I held out some sweet seed and nuts, I bet some of them would take a chance. Maybe even the red squirrels. Had one make a detour up my leg tonight, but quickly realized that was not the best play.
On edit: Chick-a-dee's are the most inquisitive birds in the woods. They will follow you as you walk = quarter mile at times...same bird. No doubt that I could have one land in my hand, gonna try it, next deck night.

It's a very special feeling to have a wild bird eat out of your hand. I go to a park with friendly birds, but many people have been able to get their backyard birds hand feeding. I have collected some tips on how to do this, which I'd like to share with you below.
The Prop Setup
Set up a mannequin or use PVC pipe to build a human shape in a chair using your clothes. One day swap out places with the mannequin, clothes and all.
