Shining Sunbeam Hummingbird

Cinematography: Thomas Marent; Cut and Editing: David Weiller

This large and beautiful hummingbird with lilac-gold iridescent and glittering purple can display glittering purple only when it wants to and is only visible when the sun shines at the right angle.

These hummingbirds are mostly nectarivorous (drinking nectar from flowers) however, they also catch insects in flight. Their dexterity in flight allow them to escape predators easily (for example fast-flying raptors).

It short bill is typical of Like other sunbeams.
