1. Oh, that guarantees OBJ won't be coming back to the Rams.

Mayfield couldn't ever find him when they were both with the Browns.

Questionable move on the Rams part IMO. The Browns couldn't wait to get rid of him and he lost his starting job with the Panthers.

What are the Rams thinking?

3. I don't think OBJ wanted back there given the season is shot for the Rams

Regardless of Mayfield.

I also don't much understand the logic unless it's simply "Let's fuck the 49ers" (who were lower in waiver order, and thought to be interested).

I've not heard any talk of this but I wouldn't mind OBJ on my Raiders. We're not technically out of it after our 3 game win streak.

Cowboys may make the most sense for him though. Or the Chiefs.

8. I thought of Bucs but with Evans and Godwin healthy I wasn't seeing it

Really think Cowboys are his best/most logical shot, looking at real chances for PO's and opportunities for himself given the WR corps, and QB skill.

Eagles also not a bad destination, but I've heard no rumors of that.

Chiefs I'm sure both would love the chance, but they're pressed up against the cap IIRC.

and their other receivers and that great running back, not to mention Carr, we'd make some noise in the playoffs.

11. First game at OACC was 1975 with my dad ... I was 9 yo

Since then I went to a few more.

See the tickets that say Suite L42? That was Al's box. I never SAT in his suite mind you but those are the tix I used to get in to the building

That 1995 ticket vs Rams was the first preseason game back in Oakland, post-LA.

I was also born in Oakland ... 364 days after Kamala.

Interestingly, my dad (who grew up in Oakland and was a Teamster there) passed away ... on 10/8/2019.

But Al Davis had passed away on 10/8/2011 ... which was the exact day I got married the one and only time in my life.

So yeah ... Raider fan

I'd take OBJ right now, hell freaking yeah

Lived in North Oakland off 49th and Telegraph then moved to Berkeley. The Raiders were a powerhouse then and I want to get that back.

Silver and Black all the way.

'75-'78 (after returning from living in ... Las Vegas, for a few years, a new wife in tow) my dad lived about 1 mi NE of Fenton's Creamery on Piedmont Ave, just off Pleasant Valley Road, not far from where College Ave hits Broadway in North Oakland.

Lotta good memories of that time, going to visit Pops on custody weekends.

I grew up with Mom though living on the other side of the Caldecott Tunnel. Pleasant Hill, Martinez, and Orinda. High School in the 80's was in Walnut Creek, which is where mom and stepdad still live.

14. Well, McVay did something right with Mayfield

I'll give McVay credit, he got Mayfield into the system just enough to pull the W last night.

If I'm Mayfield's agent, I'm telling him to do whatever it takes to stay with the Rams. McVay could well turn Mayfield's career around in the same way a former #1 overall pick's career was turned around by the Raiders back in 1980 (Jim Plunkett).

missed the game (don't have Prime) but I'll catch the replay on NFL Network.

With Stafford signing a four-year, $160 million extension this year, Mayfield's future position with the Rams would be as back-up. I don't think that'll fly with him.

If he finishes out the season strong, maybe he lands as starter elsewhere for 2023. Who replaces Brady in Tampa? Are the Raiders done with Carr? Seattle (a long shot IMO)?

"There's no way the Rams let the 49ers get Mayfield when they have a higher spot in the waiver order!"

I'd kinda doubted that, but turns out ... they were right.

Don’t judge a player by a system. Jeff Garcia, who broke Montana’s and Young’s passing records at San Francisco, had a terrible season when he signed with the Browns. I remember one game when he posted a 000 passing rating.

We know Mayfield can play. With injuries behind him and good coaching and teammates, the sky’s the limit. I hope he does well … except when he plays San Francisco.

9. I actually spent a weekend with Jeff Garcia and a buncha friends in Tahoe
Tue Dec 6, 2022, 10:14 PM
Dec 2022

the summer before he started (but was already signed) with the 49'ers. Wanna say it was ... summer of 2000? Or maybe 1999.

Me and Jeff played a set of tennis as doubles vs. my buddy and his brother (it was their family's Tahoe house ... which had a tennis court, and they were the ones who knew Jeff, not me).

We won ... entirely because Jeff was a stud athlete and my sucking didn't mess him up too much

True story.

If he broke and Young and Montana records at SF, they were pretty limited in scope. Just sayin'
