Would the NFL suspend the game or expect players to keep going?

I feel for the family and all, but over 100,000 people die every day. And the world doesn't stop spinning.

(2,025 posts)The NFL did the right thing to postpone as these players are human and have emotions. They were visibly distraught.
Finish the game when you can. It didnt have to be last night when hearts were heavy and all they could think about was another persons life.
Im willing to bet tons of mistakes wouldve been made on the field last night if they played on.
They can play the game when their minds are cleared.
You can go back to work in time, it doesnt have to be that very second.
Nobody ever stopped an assembly line or shut down an Amazon distribution center because someone had a heart attack.
The rules are different.

(3,933 posts)As they apparently did last night. If the players refused to play, I dont see that there would be much that could be done about it.
There have been moments like this in other sports and the game went on. There have been moments like this in football and the game continued. Maybe things are a bit different now.

There were trained medical professionals on the field that could help him within seconds.
I think the players were right to refuse to take the field. Having 50 traumatized players trying to continue the game could have turned into an even worse disaster.

(9,238 posts)No way they would cancel it unless there was something more tragic like a terror attack that threatened spectators.

(12,228 posts)NFL Executive Troy Vincent said the league took no steps toward restarting the game and did not ask players to begin a five-minute warmup period as ESPN's broadcasters had announced.

(17,552 posts)They were assuming the game would resume in five minutes. Then they said nobody's moving.
I think the broadcasters were getting little information or guidance at that stage so they were just guessing.
