3. Artificial turf in the Meadowlands sidelined four of the 49ers a few years ago

It was 2020 and S.F. was playing the Jets. Nick Bosa, Jimmy Garoppolo, Raheem Mostert, and Solomon Thomas all suffered leg injuries.

Then there's this:

The turf from that game was finally replaced THIS year with MetLife getting new turf in March. The Monday night game between the Bills and Jets was just the second regular-season game played on the new turf following the Cowboys 40-0 win over the Giants on Sunday. Although there weren't any major injuries in that game, the Rodgers injury could lead the NFL to take a closer look at the new turf.

From 2007 until 2018, the playing surface used the Desso GrassMaster system, which has synthetic fibers woven into the traditional Kentucky bluegrass sod. In 2018, the Grassmaster surface was replaced with polyethylene-based SIS Grass. Even the new video boards, installed in 2004, have been influenced by the field's nickname, being called "Tundra Vision". These video displays measure more than 25 feet (7.6 m) high by 46 feet (14 m) wide.

An artificial lighting system, based on technology used in Dutch rose-growing greenhouses, was tested in 2010 and purchased for use in the 2011 season. It operates 24 hours a day from October to early December to extend the growing season for the field's grass. The system is also used in some soccer stadiums where shade from stands and partial roofs are a problem for the turf, not the cold and short growing season found in Green Bay.

5. It could also be his plantaris tendon.

I snapped mine while playing ultimate frisbee about 10-12 years ago. My fellow players heard it snap and saw me fall to the ground - the noise and my reaction made a few think I got shot.

If it's that, he's in much better shape than a torn achilles. There is no surgery for the plantaris.

up plantaris tendon and it said 8-12% of people don’t even have them.

8. That is correct. I learned that at the time of the tear.

The surgeon I saw lost his during a long weekend of drinking - he said he rolled over in bed on a Sunday morning, stretched, and popped his. He said it wasn't his finest moment.

was an Achilles' tendon.

Luckily, it is "just" a ruptured Baker's Cyst.

Not a Roger's fan, but sorry to see his career end like that.

Pretty expensive hit for the Jets - all that guaranteed money...
