He's always being hyped by sportscasters but always comes up short.

(119 posts)Is actually Earl in CA. While it's true I grew up in west central Pennsylvania, I lived the last 35 years in San Diego county. And as a casual observer, I've noticed the Los Amgeles Chargers, (formally, the San Diego Chargers) have a knack for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory...

(5,124 posts)Their defenses during that time period left a LOT to be desired.
The 1982 game vs the 49ers was an all time classic if you love offense.

We'll see about Herbert. It's time

(5,124 posts)Yet those same media heads talk down on Tua Tagovailoa as being not as good as Herbert. They continue to do this despite the fact Tua QBs the current #1 offense in the NFL. Perhaps if Tua were 6-5, had blond locks, and was named say, Mac Jones, he would get the same level of love Herbert enjoys from the media. The only legitimate beef about Tua is his inability to stay healthy for an entire season (hopefully, that changes this year).
When a game gets tight, Herbert consistency vapor locks like a 1977 Buick on a hot Arizona day.

(57,567 posts)I see you've had some experience with those hot, AZ days.
Me too. I grew up in Tucson and had an old, vintage Ford that victimized me more than once with a vapor lock, and all you could do was wait until 'effin' car decided to start.

(7,629 posts)I thought he was maybe it's run blocking. There was no running game last night. I saw it all in Detroit. Same shit different place.

(57,567 posts)Shannon Sharp was just talking about it on "First Take", he said can't have a 124 lb running back in the NFL when you a back on third and two of fourth and one run the ball up into the line.
You need a back with some weight and power.
