Chicago Bears trading Justin Fields to Pittsburgh Steelers

Now this sets up an interesting scenario where Fields and Russell Wilson will be competing for playing time.

CHICAGO -- The Bears have traded quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Saturday.

The Steelers sent a 2025 sixth-round pick that converts to a fourth-round selection if Fields plays 51% of snaps this season, a source confirmed to ESPN.

Fields, who completed his third season with Chicago in 2023, will join a quarterback room with Russell Wilson, who signed a one-year deal with the Steelers on Friday.

Fields is not expected to compete with Wilson for the starting job, a team source told ESPN's Brooke Pryor. Instead, Fields is expected to learn from the Super Bowl winner and nine-time Pro Bowler.

In a social media post Saturday, Fields thanked the Bears organization and the city of Chicago "for allowing me the opportunity to be part of such a historic franchise."

Assuming Fields can “learn” from Wilson. Just barely keeping up with NFL news this time of year, we will all need new scorecards and rosters to keep up with who’s QBing who next year.

Can someone explain to me what the hell happened to my Eagles Offense last season?

Right to the end.

Had my formative years in Fayetteville in the 60s and 70s. Loved the place. Still do. Got Hog memorabilia in the house, in the garage, in the basement.

I really don't give a fuck. But the Bears organization sucks. They used tax money to destroy Soldier Field, now they say they need more. No thank you, get the fuck out. The Bears want to move to Arlington Heights. Fine, you are now the Arlington Heights Bears. Don't use the Chicago name. You don't deserve it, and you should also restore Soldier Field to its former glory.

Otherwise , fuck you, Bears. We are not paying for another stadium with tax dollars.

https://chargerswire.usatoday.com/2017/06/27/san-diego-will-be-paying-for-chargers-park-qualcomm-stadium-until-2027/#

The hits keep on coming for the city of San Diego. First, it loses its beloved football team of 56 seasons, and now its taxpayers are on the hook for the remaining debt for the expansion deal of Qualcomm Stadium and Chargers Park signed off on in the 1990s by former Mayor Susan Golding, per the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The remaining debt left on the note is up to $45 million, which will be paid off from now until 2027.

Now that the Chargers have bolted for Los Angeles, the city is left with only one tenant for Qualcomm, and some San Diego City Council members see no use for Chargers Park, per Tom Krasovic.

along with the Cardinals. This way the free market can do its thing.

The Cardinals are similar. I can't wait for them to move on, back to St Louis or Chicago, but unfortunately no matter where you pile crap....

Fields watch and learn under Russell Wiison. Something that used to be how QBs started in the NFL. The Packers still do it. Aaron Rodgers learned under Brett Farve, Jordan Love learned under Aaron Rodgers.

Patrick Mahomes learned under Alex Smith.

The Bears threw Fields into starting as a rookie, whats pretty common now but only the rare few like Josh of the Bills and Lamar Jackson of the Ravens succeed.

It'll be good for Fields and it a year or two he'll take over from Wilson who at 36 is already past his prime.

the evolving personnel at QB for the Stillers will have little impact until they dramatically improve their O line!

He got a raw deal here
Stupid coaching, coaches so in live with their precious system they ignore the skillet of the player, penciled in as NUMBER THREE on the depth chart his rookie year, the in game 2 has to start against Clevelan running an offense designed for Dalton, the 2nd worst o-line in football & nobody to throw to. (Kmet was yet to develop. He did have Alan Robinson who was double covered on every snap.)
Nagy insisted he throw on read & timing, but held a ROOKIE responsible for interceptions. Stupid to ask for both when the coach himself decided (by putting him at #3) he wasn't ready.
He was wasted here & I hope he is nourished to achieve his potential in Pittsburgh.
