The new agreement is for six years.
In the new college football postseason that starts in 2014, the SEC bowl lineup will include the Sugar (for the top team not invited to the playoff semifinals), the Orange Bowl (for 3 years in a 12-year deal) and the Capitol One Bowl. The Texas Bowl falls in a group with the Belk, Gator, Liberty, Music City, Outback for the SECs next bowl teams. The conference also has agreements with the BBVA Compass (Birmingham) and the AdvoCare100 (Shreveport).
The SEC is pleased to welcome the Texas Bowl to our postseason lineup, SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said in a statement. Im glad we can take SEC football into the state of Texas in the postseason on an annual basis for an attractive matchup with a Big 12 opponent. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with the Texas Bowl.
