This might have already been asked on this board, probably more than once too. But I am curious. What do you think would be a good name for the Washington NFL team to be renamed to?

I mean, they've given us plenty of pain over the years, but they're doing so poorly now that it's just about impossible to hate them. Of course it's a lot easier to not hate them now that we've broken their voodoo over us.

A lot of Native Americans are conservative as eff. Over in Oklahoma and Texas I know plenty that are Michelle Bachmann (!!) lovers. They want their name changed, they should tell their fellow man to stop following crazy conservatives like her; they deserve it. Small sample size? Don't care. You should see the stuff they say.

I've lived in DC for 25 years now (barring a grad school stop in Boston and various overseas postings, like now), and I think the Federals is the only appropriate name. Change the color to Federal blue.

18. The Cucumbers

Actually I have a question also. I drive by various high schools and middle schools which have Indian-theme names. I hear nothing about this with regards to the Washington Redskins name conversation. Yesterday I was noodling on this as I watched the Oregon vs. Florida game. The Florida team is called the Seminoles. That is the name of a tribe of indians. Why is it that D.C. is the focus? Well, anyway, just wondering if anyone has any ideas on this. I confess to being aware only in a tangental way.

19. The high school names have long been part of the focus

Washington has too but there was a sudden interest from the national media which I'm not sure where it came from.

Many college teams changed their names & mascots such as Syracuse and St. John's. Florida State got the OK from the local Seminole tribe to continue using the name.
