(46,436 posts)I was kind of amused by this photo of my grandson that my Denver daughter posted on her Facebook page. He's four.

I guess Tebow himself has become an object of worship.

(194 posts)Elway is the best. You can have Montana or Brady, I'll take Elway and win.

He didn't cause the two Chicago Bear defensive errors and kick the two 50-yard-plus field goals that resulted in today's victory, for instance. And he didn't provide himself with so much pass protection that he could have knelt and prayed before he threw the ball.
Tebow's ENTIRE TEAM is now 7-1. Not the other way around.

For Barber - the Almighty is a vengeful being.

(11,444 posts)They had 10 points in regulation but 3 of them were because of a dumb ass Chicago mistake that led to a field goal.

(41,692 posts)The Broncos have had some great luck the last 7 weeks.
Recovered onside kick---missed 53 yard field goal---the fumble in OT today.
Think about that---that's 3 games that they should have lost.
Instead of 7-1 they should be 4-4.
That's some serious ass luck.

(3,922 posts)Disclaimer: I'm not a christian, but I am a FL Gator.
Tim Tebow is a winner. Not once during this whole streak has he ever taken the credit himself - he always gives it up for the team. But this is the same team that started 1-4. The only difference is the offensive leader on the field.
I met Tim and I can attest that he's genuine. On one occasion, I watched Tim stand for over eight hours on a summer day in FL (you Floridians know about that!) signing autographs, posing for pictures and kissing & holding babies. Never once did he lose his smile. How many other pro athletes would do that? The last family got the same attention and enthusiasm as the first.
Say what you want - I don't believe in religion or luck so this is, IMO, a product of hard work and everyone buying in with Tim on the team. But it's clearly working no matter what Tim's ratings are.
As a Gator, I'm proud of Tim's success as I would be for anyone. I just don't get the "polarizing" thing. He's great for sports and a refreshing break from athlete/elites who don't give the average fan the time of day. Hope the Broncs keep on going!

(41,692 posts)Seriously---religion except for the stupid Tebowing his sycophant nauseating fans are doing, should not be a factor in deliberations if he is a good QB or not.
Tim Tebow is not a good NFL quarterback.
These games were not won because of Tim Tebow. They were won because of a bunch of different factors.
Biggest one is that the last 7 games they were fortunate enough to play crappy teams. New York and Detroit are are 8-5. They lost to Detroit.
The other teams are plain awful. San Diego--6-7---Miami---4-9--Minnesota--2-11--KC--5-8---Chicago 7-6
Technically you can say they beat one good team---New York although New York has huge problems.
A 48 percent completion rate is very ugly and will be his undoing against better teams.

(2,515 posts)In fact, he states this is NOT what he does.
So where does this perception of him come from?
Mostly people who are either ignorant of the Christian religion or religion in general.
Others just say it to stir things up purposefully.
Tebow is full aware that there are other Christians on the other team.
He repeatedly has stated he prays for his best performance and all players to be well in health.
He never asked Jeeeeesus to force a kicker on opposing team to miss a FG for him.
Now, this FACT is going to slap down many of his detractors and most of their talking points.
It doesn't change the fact that he still struggles with most of the things a QB needs to do to win games, however.
But he does inspire his teammates to play better. Through watch what I do, not what I say.
And what he does is work out hard, pray hard, play hard. Until the last second ticks off the clock.
This inspires his teammates.
For some reason, the pray hard part really ticks some people off.

(17,493 posts)to believe in both his ability at the end of a game and their own ability to contribute to the win. Confidence is a important part of winning. It's hard to win if you believe that you can't.
One football commentator mentioned that Tebow doesn't get down on his teammates when they make mistakes but instead offers a positive message that they will recover and make good plays. When I watched the game, I witnessed a lot of dropped passes but in the last two minutes, the same receivers made some good catches.
