(28,422 posts)So, who do I want to see representing the East? Gotta be the Bills. And you guys deserve it! It's been decades since you had a legit shot for the NFL/AFC East. And I really do not like Ben.....

(5,769 posts)I've hated them ever since the "Immaculate Reception" play in the 70's ended my Oakland Raiders season that year and they were the best team in my opinion. It was a long time ago I know but I've never gotten over it.

(26,730 posts)I'd love to see the Chiefs with a first week bye, and home field advantage throughout.
Patrick Mahomes may well turn out to be the most amazing quarterback of all time. I know, today wasn't his best, but looking back at his first two seasons -- and it would be well worth watching game highlights for both of them -- you realize we are in the shadow of greatness.

Speaking of the Bills, have you ever seen the 30 for 30 film The Four Falls of Buffalo? It's about the four Superbowl losses, and is just incredible. Like most people, I knew almost nothing about those losses other than they happened. The 30 for 30 film is amazing, explains what happened, and shows how the city of Buffalo supports the team. Darn near makes me want to move there.

(6,212 posts)Josh Allen's grandmother died a few weeks ago and Bills fans donated $700,000 to the children's hospital here in his grandmother's name. They are naming a wing of the hospital for her. Buffalo is a great place to live.

(26,730 posts)because I otherwise had no way of knowing.
I am often in awe of what various people do. And it is clear to me that Buffalo is a great place to live. I have only once driven through there, on my way to Niagara Falls. But it is obvious that it is a wonderful city, and if I were to somehow have the opportunity to live there, trust me, I'd jump on it.
For one thing, I was born in Utica, and lived there and a bit north until I was 14. We then moved to Tucson, AZ, and I'll spare you the details of where I've lived since then. But my point is that I am not at all afraid of winter. Right now my only son lives in the DC area. He's in a PhD program in astronomy at George Mason University. I've told him many times that when he's done with his PhD, I will probably move to be much closer to him, as I don't want to be nearly 2,000 miles from my only son. I haven't a clue if there are astronomy programs in Buffalo, but if there are, and he winds up there, I'd happily relocate to that city.

(28,422 posts)Actually, when they found the balls deflated in Denver....they pumped up the air pressure during halftime. Guess what happened? TB had a better game in the 2nd half! Go figure. Science was not the NFL's strong suit. But I get it. No one likes a really successful sports franchise. Certainly not the Patriots who kept winning and winning and winning. Must have sucked to be the rest of the NFL.
