The Tim Tebow tight end experiment in Jacksonville has come to an end.
Tebow was released by the Jaguars today, ending a very brief return to football and likely ending his NFL career. Anyone who saw Tebows highlights from the Jaguars preseason opener had little doubt that he was failing as a tight end. He did nothing as a receiver and was painfully bad as a blocker. Tebow looked like a man out of position while trying to throw a block, a fundamental duty of his new position.
The 34-year-old Tebow was a first-round draft pick of the Broncos in 2010 and led them to some spectacular comeback victories as a quarterback, but he never developed enough as a pro passer. He then spent a year on the Jets and finally had short training camp stints with the Patriots and Eagles before leaving football and trying his hand at baseball. Tebow spent several years in the New York Mets' minor league baseball system but never advanced from there.
Once among Americas most popular athletes, Tebow is probably now done in pro sports. Tebow has not taken a regular-season snap in the NFL since 2012, when he was a backup quarterback for the New York Jets.

(19,751 posts)Colin Kaepernick was never given a thought even tho he holds an NFL playoff record. 10,000 passing yards and 4,000 rushing yards. Took the 49ers to the Super Bowl.. and yet.. So no tears from me for Tebow
