Whoops: AP football poll voter appears to mix up Arizona State, Arizona

If you’ve ever goofed up and said Tucson instead of Tempe, vice versa, or any other version of mistakingly mixing up Arizona State and Arizona, you know that’s a big no-no among the fanbases.

There was an instance of this on Tuesday with the voting for the Associated Press’ college football top 25 poll, as a reporter in Tennessee voted the Wildcats No. 21 instead of the Sun Devils.

Now, there are some years where this could actually be debatable, but 2021 is not one of them. ASU was already ranked in the top-25 going into Week 1 after a win over Southern Urah, while Arizona had its losing streak extended to 13 after dropping its season opener to BYU.

That’s now the longest run of losses among all FBS schools.
