Related: About this forumTony Romo is a horrible football announcer
He just piled stupid comments on top of stupid comments the whole game. He pushed me to turn the volume off. I hope CBS is smart enough not to make him their top announcer next season.
The Fox team of Buck and Aikman were head and shoulders better. Im not a fan of this team but they were in a different league than the CBS team.

(57,653 posts)He frequently, because of his experience as a player, anticipates the next play call, and quite often he's right.

(16,307 posts)the team of him and Aikman are about at the same level, overall. Below those two pairs is fifty feet of crap, then there is Al Michaels and Chris Colinsworth. Can't stand those guys.

(403 posts)He recently signed a 10 yr $180 million contract. A decent pay raise from the $4 million/yr he was earning.
But ... to each his own

(15,046 posts)... I was surprised by his commentary at the end of regulation during the AFC Championship game.
He talked as if it was a foregone conclusion that the Chiefs would score a TD to go ahead, saying things like, "I would run to the 1-yard line on this next play." (I'm paraphrasing, and the implication from Romo was that the Chiefs would continue to run out the clock before they went ahead that way.)
I yelled at the TV screen, "That's presuming that the Bengals cooperate, Romo!"

(1,337 posts)Romo said the Bengals should think about just letting KC score, so they would have enough time to mount a drive. Thats when I turned down the sound for the second time.

(15,046 posts)... was otherwise going to run out the clock as revenge for what happened during their earlier game in Cincinnati.
So I was apparently damned to hear that kind of talk, one way or another.
It definitely wasn't looking good for the Bengals at that point, but c'mon! Almost nothing is inevitable in the NFL.
