Brian Flores, recently fired by the Miami Dolphins, accused the NFL and three teams of racism. He is also claiming that the owner of the Dolphins, Stephen Ross, offered him money to lose games on purpose.
Former coach of the Cleveland Browns, Hue Jackson, claimed that a similar situation happened to him by owner of the Cleveland Browns and Knoxville native, Jimmy Haslam.
Jackson coached the Browns from 2016 to 2018. During his 40 games coached for Cleveland, he went 3-36-1 for a .088 winning percentage.
Jackson told ESPN that he told Haslam that he wasnt interested in bonus money and instead wanted that money used to improve the team.
And I remember very candidly saying to Jimmy, Im not interested in bonus money, because Ive never known that to be a bonus. I was interested in taking whatever that money was and putting it toward getting more players on our football team because I didnt think we were very talented at all, Jackson told ESPN. I know what good football teams look like, play like, what they act like and we didnt have a lot of talented players on the team at that time.

(2,917 posts)Hue was dealt a raw deal and has said that they had a 4 year plan that included losing enoug to get the #1 overall pick twice. They cut a ton of experienced players during his first training camp -- they likely had a plan to roll over a lot of unused cap space as part of that plan.
Philadelphia had 'the process' -- the Cubs tanked for years as did the Houston L'Astros. Bu tin the NFL, you aren't supposed to be so blatant.
The players try to win. A GM can lead to a lot of losses by gutting a roster and giving coaches a bunch of crap players tp play with (which is what happened in Cleveland to Hue Jackson's teams -- they were devoid of talent).
If they actually put down in writing that there goal was to get a top 3 pick two years in a row -- there should be some repercussions.

(7,629 posts)set them up for failure. If you are afraid they might win a few throw him a bone to lose. After you have secured the #1 picks you covet, fire him because he has a losing record. Now you've accomplished two things hired a black coach as the league says it wants you too. Second obtain the draft picks you wanted for losing. Wash rinse repeat.
