Star Wars: The Old Republic.

So, since Bioware's new MMO is coming out in 14 days, I was wondering if anyone on DU was looking forward to it besides me. Normally MMOs bore me after a few months, but I really think Bioware's storytelling will make this one a lot more fun. I really liked the beta. Anyway, I really just wanted to post here, I love the new DU.

Don't know if I'll see it this year. However I'm waiting for it, not psyched, just waiting. I still feel oddly leery about it. Heh "I have a bad feeling about this." sorry couldn't resist.

I beta tested the game, and will be playing when it's released. I don't really have anyone I know who will be playing, so I'm definitely looking for people to help out in the game. I've been looking forward to the game for ages now and can't wait to have another MMO to play.

I normally hate making new characters just because the quests are so dull, but TOR has changed that. P.S. go Empire!

I played a Jedi Sentinel to 15 and a Jedi Shadow to 14. I preferred the playstyle of the Jedi Sentinel a little bit, but both were fun. The Consular story was better, in my opinion. The Jedi Consular is more about searching the mysteries of the Force, the Knight is more "military" style of a story.

I played both in beta as well, and really enjoyed the Consular storyline the best. The Jedi storyline was meh, IMO.

I also played Smuggler to 15 and liked that a lot, too.

Didn't care much for Bounty Hunter or Sith Inquisitor.

Do players get to have houses that they can decorate with stuff?

Is there crafting?

Also, I like games where I can name stuff.

There is no player housing, but you do get your own ship that you can bring people on. The devs have said after launch they want to implement a system where you can decorate your ship.

There is a crafting, it's called crew skills. Here are two links. The first is the official crew skills page, the second is a dev post where she discusses their crafting and modification system. Basically they want you to be able to modify your gear so that if you want to, say keep your original lightsaber, you can modify it with endgame components and it will still be viable. link 1: http://www.swtor.com/info/systems/crew-skills Link 2:http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=717041

I'm not sure what you mean by naming stuff, could you elaborate?

One of the things I liked about playing Star Wars Galaxies, was that I could craft a weapon, name it whatever I wanted, and use it to decorate my home or post it for sale in the public market place.

We could also be mayors of cities, where we could name the city and the structures.

For examples, see:

Poll question: I'm finally mayor of a city in Star Wars Galaxies! Help me pick a Colbert-themed name!

I loved pre-CU SWG too, but TOR is a themepark style MMO. SWG was a sandbox. I'll say this, if you go in expecting SWG 2.0 you'll be disappointed, but if you go in expecting a polished themepark experience with a great storyline, you'll have fun.

Eve is supposed to be good, but it is a very hard game to learn I've heard. I used to play Fallen Earth which is a sandbox similar to SWG. Here is MMORPG.com's review of it: http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/126/view/reviews/load/171/FrontRunner-for-the-Sandbox-Crown.html

I just uninstalled and deleted it again this morning, and am re-downloading it now.

I think part of the problem is that I had a power failure in the middle of my download last night.

I got into TOR's early access and played for few hours. I loved it, I logged off and TOR's security question system asked me to answer a question I didn't know, I didn't even know if I choose this question. Anyway, I've been on hold with EA's customer "service" for like two hours to get it fixed. It's times like these that make me grateful for my insomnia.

I played the Beta and after it was over I just could not log into WOW after 6+ years except to resign as guild officer and tell everyone good bye. That's how awesome it is. Half of our guild is leaving for TOR some are playing Jedi and some Sith. I think we're supposed to know 12-12 what server the TOR guild will be on but it is Morituri on Empire side if anyone is interested.

Started yesterday via the Early Start program. It's pretty exciting so far, but I won't have much time to play until the new year.

YOY (a former DUer whom several of you might remember fondly) will be playing the game, too--hopefully on the same server.
