(27,383 posts)is that still in print? All percentiles, I loved it, only needed two dice. One, if you got one of those huge D100s that were impossible to read.

(2,135 posts)I've been a fan of every edition of D&D that's been released. I'm sure that 5e won't be any different.

(22,143 posts)I'm not fond of the updates really. Give me the old school any day.

It worked for me then and was fun. Bought some 4th ed books some time ago and it just seemed 'blah'

(4,261 posts)but have sold most of my books 'cos I never use them. Not through my choice, it's my friends, they have no desire to play pnp rpg's or any rpg's come to think of it.

(2,482 posts)I understand you had to get "younger", but you turned it into WoW on paper. If a kid likes WoW (et. al) why on earth would he like it on paper? D&D should be an alterantive and be something other than what they can get on the video game screen...its called imagination.
BTW-playing D&D since 1983.

(25,586 posts)Our group of forty-somethings have had a ton of exciting and imaginative adventuring using 5E, none of which was anything like an MMO.
I had the same type of fears when we started playing 4E, but it's not even remotely WoW on paper.
We're currently mid-paragon (15th level) in our 4E game and have no signs of slowing down. It's been the longest and most fun game I've ever played in and it's a testament to 4E's balance and (pre-essentials) elegant design.

(6,811 posts)i think of it as a tactics miniatures game myself. however i can see the MMO aspects some people see from the AEDU format. overall it's a fun and decent game as long as i mentally divorce it from the AD&D RPG line. otherwise my nerd rage kicks into overdrive...
but that's another conversation entirely.
btw, i'm hearing interesting things from playtesters. naturally NDAs are involved and the best they can do is intimate some things based on feel and then talk about that which has already been confirmed. but from what i hear it is very different from the L&L column on WotC, which seems to be a misguided attempt to maintain word-of-mouth interest in all parties.
