I just feel the need to reach out.
My dad was a life long biker. He passed away on Monday.
He went for a ride monday morning, it was a beautiful day here in central texas. He had a great day. Went home and had a heart attack monday afternoon. Just here and then gone. No warning.
Take a ride for Tommy, he'd like that.

I can still remember though, how fantastic a good ride would make me
feel during and after it.

I'm very sorry for your loss, but very happy that your dad was able to
spend his last day doing something that he found to be beautiful.
.
That last day was a blessing for him... and I hope it helps YOU to think
about how happy he was.

(2,561 posts)He loved his face in the wind. It was his favorite place to be.
So many of us say "I'll do that next year or if I only had the money."
He didn't wait for life, he lived it and and I'm happy for that.
Thank you for you kind thoughts.

(6,793 posts)On a day he probably would not have traded anything for. It is hard to explain to someone who does not ride but, there is a freedom in it that simply cannot be experienced any other way. I have ridden for over 30 years myself and hope I am able to ride until I leave this world. Your dad did that.....many bikers wish they could but can't.
He had several health problems, but he tried not to let it slow him down. He was a little guy, and you'd think a stiff wind would blow him over. Then he'd hop on a bike and nothing could catch him.
