NASCAR has a growing "Trump" problem

NASCAR has a rich white kid who has been given everything by a doting grandfather. The grandfather happens to be a Gawd in two sports. Rich white kid has talent, but has never had to carry a shitbox of a car at any stage of his career like most drivers have. The rich white kid has been given the best of racing equipment and support staff at every level. Rich white kid feels entitled and as long as it turns out to his benefit all's good. When other drivers have a come to Jesus meeting they get chastised, fined, penalized or all three. When rich white kid has a come to Jesus meeting they fucking pray about it and all's well. That and a fake apology and feigning contriteness and it is all forgiven.

Having followed all forms of racing or competing for 60 plus years I am just totally disappointed with current crop of drivers. After talking tough talk all week about teaching him a lesson, they did. They taught him it was ok to wreck a teammate on purpose. And they taught him that, by letting him win the prize the Xfinity championship. After all the tough talk by drivers and ex driver superstars, about how they would police the sport, for some reason they couldn't bring themselves to cross the sanctimonious duo of Grandpa Joe Gibbs and the rich spoiled kid Ty. Anyone else see parallels ?

NASCAR has raced on road courses for 60 years. Cup sages say "Road Courses are the new short tracks!" - there are more, and new ones, on the schedule. Bill Elliot set an IMSA lap record at the Glen, exclaimed "Just like home in Nawth Jawja! Who Weee!"

"Holy Joe" wants is pretty well baked in by the Nascar officials. Looking the other way during inspections is their favorite. That Toyota money is like meth to them.

The two Dillon brothers are grandsons of Richard Childress and one of them is who I thought you were referring to. The other one has finally wised up and stopped wearing that ridiculous, oversized cowboy hat that he also never earned.

I’m a big fan of nearly any kind of racing but it's getting tougher to ignore the wealth/politics of the business groups that make the big ones happen. More and more, small, local events like bicycle racing, track and field, motocross, etc. are where I can get my fix.

8. Best 2races I've Sen in a decade, 2 miles from home

Both well paying "Tour Rules", open competition Modified races, at the 1/3 mile Claremont Speedway. Both won by " phenom", " Big Money" Matt Hirschmann.. Superb at car setup, A master strategist behind the wheel.

This years affair ran the first 80 / 100 laps under green!

I took a peek at your Claremont Speedway and can't say I've seen a prettier location for a track. Gorgeous! Must be quite the place to watch some Saturday night/Sunday afternoon paint swapping.

I grew up around and dabbling in AMA flat track and outdoor motocross. Sure, turning and jumping other than one direction is fun but there is just something about throwing it sideways at speed, steering with the gas and hanging on.

Maybe that local track of yours was dirt at one time?
