Royal Caribbean Pauses Some Cruises Due to Omicron Concerns

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd has paused some of its cruise operations amid rising numbers of COVID-19 infections due to the Omicron variant.

The sailings of three ships - Serenade of the Seas, Jewel of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas - have been paused while the return of its Vision of the Seas to cruising has been postponed to March 7, 2022, the cruise line said in a statement on Friday.

"We regret having to cancel our guests' long-awaited vacations and appreciate their loyalty and understanding," the company adding that these measures have been implemented "in an abundance of caution."

Earlier this week, Royal Caribbean called off its Spectrum of the Seas cruise for Jan. 6 after nine guests on its Jan. 2 trip were identified as close contacts to a local Hong Kong COVID-19 case.

They take the health and safety of its passengers seriously.

Every day on our 21 day voyage, the Captain would say, "Wash your hands " after his daily briefing at Noon. He said he fid not give hugs, but fist bumps. "Spread the love, but not the germs "
Everywhere you were on The Explorer of The Seas, there were Purell stations to use hand sanitizers.

My husband caught a bug and had to stay the cabin for 72 hours until his temperature was at normal. I was fine.. I brought him fruit and goodies from the Dining Hall. He had room service.

I understand RC need to put safety of passengers first before profits.

Always had stomach virus breakouts and such. As much as they try to keep things clean and disinfected - it's just not a good idea at this time to put human beings on a ship. Good for Royal Caribbean!

at the end of February. It's the Star Trek Cruise. We're all concerned, but just awaiting guidance from RC and the charter company.

We were on the last one in March 2020, right before the lockdown hit. Unlike other cruise ships, we had no problems. Everyone was very careful about not hugging, etc. We went into lockdown about a week after we got back.
