ATHENS, Ohio A priest in Ohio is accused of impregnating a 17-year-old alter girl, according to WSYX.
Father Henry Christopher Foxhoven, 45, faces eight counts of felony sexual battery against a minor.
Foxhoven is accused of having a sexual relationship with the victim over the past several months. She is now pregnant.
The suspect was a priest from the Diocese in Steubenville. He had served at two churches in Athens County, Ohio, one in Buchtel and the other in Glouster.

(147,636 posts)I'm betting there have been such abortions from time to time. We just don't hear about them.
Most of the news of Priest child sexual abuse seems to focus on abuse of boys, but it happens with girls, too. It may be reported less often in those cases. I don't know.
What's heartening to me is that this priest was arrested and charged in our courts. He wasn't just shuffled off to some other diocese or something. I think that's progress, at least. There are many, many stores of Protestant ministers being arrested for sex crimes, but damned few of priests being arrested.
I've always found that interesting.
My interest in sexual abuse of children by pastors and priests goes back to my own teen years. A youth pastor at the church I attended was caught in the act with a 14-year-old girl in the church basement. He was sent away to another town somewhere, and never prosecuted. The girl's family soon moved out of town, due to the shame of it all.
I knew the girl. She was a very shy, very unhappy person. The youth pastor used that to coax her into sex with him. It pissed me off then, and it still pisses me off. He should have been arrested and tried for his crime. Instead, he got off scot-free. It was a shameful thing for that church to do.

Cardinal Roger Mahony can never be redeemed, even if he opposes President Trump
To the editor: I read with interest your flattering article on Cardinal Roger Mahony, the former Roman Catholic archbishop of Los Angeles who retired in disgrace but is still speaking out on immigration. I would like to clarify a few things.
Although Mahony now says he told his successor that he would stay below the radar and try not to draw too much media attention to himself, the article fails to note that it was actually Archbishop Jose Gomez who, in the wake of the archdioceses ordered release of priest abuse records, wrote a public letter to the faithful admonishing Mahony for his failures in dealing with the abuse and announcing that he no longer would have any administrative or public duties.
Readers should revisit past L.A. Times articles that recount how Mahony refused to report the allegations of abuse to authorities, selected therapists for some victims whom he knew would not report to law enforcement and advised some accused priests to stay away from California to avoid prosecution.
As a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in child abuse, I have to set the record straight.

He died a few years ago. May God have mercy on his soul. I'm still not sure I can get to that point yet.

(147,636 posts)Priests and ministers have been sexually abusing girls all along. We just don't hear as much about those cases. Apparently, many people don't see it as horrific if a priest molests a girl. If you think about why that might be, it makes it all the more disgusting.
