Without critical thinking, you can't call anything a "study".

That's about the worst thing I can think of coming from that kind of study, which isn't so bad.

Sure. Fix the typo and leave me hanging.

I still say reveille is not as bad as what comes from the other kind of study.

Can you separate actual truth from metaphorical concepts? Are you sure? You won't find the answer at religionnews.com, I can assure you. The answer has to come from within.

For everything. Faith often leads the faithful down dangerous paths. Truth does not, and truth is determined by evidence.

Have I convinced myself? Of what? I let the evidence convince me. If there is not enough evidence, I look for more.

And how can you determine what evidence is required?

You make a choice in each case.

Is that choice the correct one?

You might believe so.

And cognitive bias might tell you that your decisions are the correct ones.

Is the Skeptic unaware of the concept of metaphor?

Apparently so, so the Skeptic did prove something.

So your reply is off topic and illustrative of what some feel is dialogue.

Assuming the answer is no, and it would be monumentally stupid to suggest otherwise, then how do you know which parts are and aren’t?

Since you won’t ever answer either of those questions, the obvious answer is you don’t know.

Meanwhile over half of US Christians believe in young earth creationism, which sure as hell isnt the least bit metaphorical.

The Skeptic must insist on a strictly literal interpretation of every verse. But abundant evidence exists that this is simply not the case.

Many beginning theology students can attest to this.

The truly funny part is when asked about who agrees with your ‘all metaphor’ nonsense claim you allege is mainstream, you come back with examples of people who insist on a literal interpretation.

you ignore the argument in favor of your favorite points, and ignore the substance of the proofs I have offered. And when I offer citations to back up my contention, even from RCC theologians, you insist on declaring that what they said is not what they really said.

So, speaking of funny, yes, it is.

Is all of the bible “metaphor”?

Answer from you, <crickets>

Meanwhile ‘literally’ nobody, including no-shit rock hard fanatical Christians and least of all anyone here are arguing all of the bible is literal, which is the nonsense you have worked so hard to refute.

So yeah, Gil you really did a great job with your “proof”. You burned that strawman right to the ground, rebuilt it time and time again and burned that bastard down again.

Meanwhile you utterly failed to support your ‘all metaphor’ nonsense no matter how many people you think agree with you, but obviously don’t.

I answer it.

But when I am asked to cite every verse that I take as metaphor, that is not a valid question.

But speaking of non-answers, I have not seen one response of yours in my China series that actually addressed the issues raised in the posts. Instead, you and a few other prolific posters veered into unrelated topics as a way of diverting.

So there is that factor to consider when we speak of dialogue here.
