"Second Coming" Jesus comic book offends some Christians

You would think that Christians would jump at the chance to see their Savior represented in popular media, but some believers are upset about the portrayal of Jesus in a new series from DC Comics.

The premise is actually pretty great: The superhero is Jesus, but He comes back to Earth only to “set the record straight” after seeing how people have twisted His words.

The series, called “Second Coming” and written by Mark Russell (with art by Richard Pace), comes out in March. Just in time for Easter.According to Comic Book Resources, Russell mixed in his own idea of Christianity in the animated work by claiming that Jesus needed to return to earth to learn how to become the “true messiah” from a Superman-like character called Sun-man.

“Witness the return of Jesus Christ, as He is sent on a most holy mission by God to learn what it takes to be the true messiah of mankind by becoming roommates with the world’s favorite savior: the all-powerful superhero Sun-Man, the Last Son of Krispex! But when Christ returns to earth, he’s shocked to discover what has become of his gospel — and now, he aims to set the record straight,” the comic description reads.

Christ conquering crime. What's so wrong about that??

1. Some Christians are always offended

or offended for their God. Which is funny that an all-powerful being can be insulted so easily.

I wonder if they remember this gem from National Lampoon. It would REALLY offend them.

They want to own their exclusive view of Jesus.

But many here were outraged when my signature line mocked one of their own "heroes".
