Two prominent Roman Catholic Church cardinals have called for an end of the "plague of the homosexual agenda", urging bishops to end their complicity and silence over cases of sexual abuse.
Cardinals Burke and Brandmüller say the Church has wrongly blamed the abuse of power by priests as the main cause of the scandals, its most pressing crisis.
In an open letter, they also issue a rare open criticism of the Pope.
It comes on the eve of a summit of bishops in Rome to discuss the cases.
The extraordinary summit has been called by the Pope as an effort to deal with the sex scandals rocking the Church.

I know that the gospels do not mention homosexuality in any way. But they do talk extensively about the abuse of power, and about clerics who hold themselves as better than the common people.

(36,900 posts)What we frequently see is allegations (almost always by religionists) that such Christians aren't "true Christians" because they don't embrace the biblical principle of "love thy neighbor". After all, that was Jesus' "Great Commandment". The problem is there's a very convenient out of those who want to justify their hate. What Jesus was really talking about was Mosaic law, which you can find in Leviticus 19:17-18:
18 Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
In other words, "love thy neighbor" doesn't apply to those who don't embrace Judo-Christian beliefs.
