several major countries already have space forces. My son is in the AF and they are very excited about the program. Of course I am less than enthusiastic about anything Trump touches. ETTD

outer space anti-missile defense system, aptly called "Star Wars". Reagan's PR folks said it would "protect the heavens".

It was fully intended not to protect the poor, education, health care, the environment or infrastructure. Just like today.

but I do remember the idea that the Soviet Union could kill us from space was a scary. My neighbor's dad was obsessed with the Cold War and those darned Russians. Every now and then I wonder if he were alive today, how he would feel watching his precious Republicans, bow down before Russia the way they do.
