Religion
Related: About this forumI'm bad.. talking about One Church instead of 'Religion In General'...
But I need an uninterested party to discuss something with..
This past Monday a week ago, the church announced the church office would be closed and we'd be live-streaming the next several services. (We have been live streaming for months so no big deal.. except of the pastor who of course knew NOTHING about it and suddenly became a micro-manager)
But the issue is.. an officer worked called in sick that same Monday and has been out now for two weeks.. tomorrow told to stay home).
They were NOT tested because 1) Not tests of course 2) No Health insurance.. even when the administration said 'free testing' nothing was done.
The office was closed.. and i've been able to work at home except on thursdays.......
My question... the office may have been closed but 'cleaners have been in each' day to clean the different buildings... and custodial just deep cleaning the carpets.... they think 'that's good enough'... Even when I brought up that IF the sick staff member was positive for COVID-19, everything we've been doing is for nothing.
The pastor laughed and said they shouldn't be tested then.
The office is closed but no one has been turned away who came in to clean or just knocked on the doors or came in behind the others.
SO FAR there have been no other reports.. and the sick employee is feeling better and will be back at work Monday.
Me? Overreacting possibly that nothing was announced about our very sick 24 yo.. and it's pretty much been business as usual except for can celled church activities with large crowds..
AM i being over dramatic?

(33,982 posts)This stuff kills people. Especially the elderly. What's the average age of your congregation?

(2,133 posts)We do tend to an elderly congregation.
We can keep a Young Adult Ministry open because all the young adults go elsewhere.

(33,982 posts)Obviously I'm not a huge fan of religion, and would classify church as non-essential, but I also understand people seek this sort of stuff, so if in any way they can fulfill this need with telepresence please do. You won't even know how many lives it saves. Could be one, could be hundreds.
