Iowa governor Kim Reynolds say Jesus has sovereignty over her state and the USA

First Amendment? What First Amendment?

Governor Kim Reynolds has urged Iowans to “unite in prayer” today in response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In a proclamation presenting elements of Christian theology as fact, Reynolds declared April 9 to be a “Day of Prayer” statewide. An accompanying news release invited the public to participate in the Iowa Prayer Breakfast, which was held virtually this morning. The annual event features Christian faith leaders.

Reynolds and Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg appeared in their official capacity at the breakfast, via separate video links. Speaking from the state emergency operations center with the state flag and seal of Iowa visible behind her, Reynolds hailed the effort to keep “glorifying Jesus Christ through the public affirmation of His sovereignty over our state and our nation.” From the Capitol building, Gregg observed that “Christ’s love for us” will never change, even in challenging times.

This is not just a personal belief, or hope for better things. It's saying she's going to ignore the constitution and force her religion on everyone.

A better idea, in ym view, would have been to invite motivational speakers to the breakfast.

Certainly it does if there is even a hint persons must participate.

Certainly it is a declaration of state adherence to a Church, and into the bargain is stupid, wrong-headed, and evidence of a level of delusion that ought by rights to justify appointment of a guardianship to handle this person's money and other affairs.

But it is not Treason.

This 'god' that has "sovereignty over her state" is so impotent that he cannot even stop a teeny, tiny inanimate object from making thousands of people sick and dead.

My guess is the prosperity gospel and things like it will take a huge hit from what's going on right now. I mean, if your pastor is demanding that you all defy social distancing orders and come breathe on each other in an enclosed space because "God is in control" and you're "covered in the blood of Jesus" and that you pay THEM instead of your electric bill -- but people go broke and get sick and suffer all sorts of calamity, at least a few are bound to wake up.

it's like Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, Atheists, etal. simply don't matter, don't count and don't exist for these lower-case "christians".
