A high school artist called out Christian bigotry. Her school board is furious. - Friendly Atheist

May 13, 2024
Members of the Augusta County School Board in Verona, Virginia have decided a new policy needs to be created after a high school art student offended their sensibilities by using her work to highlight faith-based bigotry.

The artwork was created by Abby Driscoll, a senior at Fort Defiance High School. The background features pages from the Bible. The text reads, “God loves you… but not enough to save you.”

The First Amendment provides that Congress make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting its free exercise. It protects freedom of speech, the press, assembly, and the right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

My own feeling is that Christian bullies should be pissed off as much as possible so they''ll retreat out of politics and ino their rotten churches and leave the rest of us to find our own way, fuckyewverymuch.

7. If your God is threatened by a high school student's art work, your God is too small.

If your God is sufficiently powerful to not be threatened by high school art, then freedom of expression trumps your personal angst.
