A little humor for election day
So I was cleaning out some old files on my computer the other night and found these pics. I thought you all might get a kick out of them.
(Quick Back-story) My dad is a Catholic Deacon, a very liberal one, and someone that has no problem with my paganism. (He actually liked my world view, but he never let my mom hear him say that) So, he and this other deacon, Deacon Ham (seriously) started a continuing education group for Deacons. Every year they hold a conference here in Austin and everyone seems to have a good time. Over the years they have used me for their computer work along with designing brochures and web stuff (www.swidsonline.com if anyone is curious) Anyway, a while back after I finished making the brochure for the conference, my dad and I decided to make a fake one as a prank on Deacon Ham. We know he always sends himself a copy of the mailers, to ensure things worked right (he's a very serious guy with a touch of OCD ). We figured that we would put the fake in the mailer going to him just to mess with his head. Here is what we made up:
I used the real brochure as a template. It would have been printed front and back and then folded into three panels.
Unfortunately my dad chickened out and intercepted it before Ham could see it. We realized that it might have actually given him a heart attack. There are days though, that I wish he had opened it himself just so I could see his reaction.
Anyway, I just figured this was good little distraction on such a potentially tempestuous day.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I ought to print one out and mail it to him anyway - even if it is a few years too late.
