Thoughts on Quote from Why You Can't Worship Jesus Christ and Be Pagan by Sam Webster
Magically, one might say we were invoked into being by the harmful actions of Christianity and its God as Their Nemesis. We are deeply entwined with the development of science and our technological culture, that culture which finally permits us to feed, clothe, shelter, etc., everyone on the planet (should we choose to). We are deeply entwined with the cultural transformation called the European Enlightenment by which the values of equality and democracy were established as central to our civilization.

(15,888 posts)2. Well, this article sure makes me begin to think!
I know of a lot of these ChristoPagans, as they say in the (article) comments, mostly back in Illinois. I have since moved on to the west coast and away from such people. The article is definitely food for thought. Thank you for posting this here.

(3,818 posts)3. You're very welcome. Lots of food for thought in the article.
I too never thought of the two paths mixing and he succinctly states why.
I am not in 100% agreement about Paganism being wholly from the Renaissance though - there have always been "folk ways" that were remnants of Paganism and it didn't totally go underground. Now the philosophy, at least public, maybe.
