So the Full Moon didn't really happen like they said, eh?

Pretty mellow on my end. I heard there was an earthquake today but so much more was predicted.

(14,881 posts)and she's doing great. Started under saddle without a hitch 2 months ago. And she's the queen of the barn, not me. Today, she's staying in scarfing down hay, due to cold deluge. She wasn't the horse I was planning on getting, but her breeder was broke and needed rescuing, and my old gelding needed a companion.
My old gelding, an arab that I rescued from starvation and neglect 23 years ago, promised a home for life, trained to FEI levels of dressage, and built the barn in my back yard for with my own hands, died this past February 9.
I wrote about it in here some time back. He knew he was dying and hid it from me for as long as he could. He taught his filly to not be afraid to be on her own with him out of sight. When it was clear he wasn't going to recover and was going into organ failure, I started making arrangements for him. He let me know he was ready to leave, standing on his burial site day after day. When the temperatures forced me to change the site twice, each time he moved to his new site and waited. The actual day, everything was as perfect as could possibly be hoped for. My last view of him alive was him watching me lead the filly to the barn, standing tall and proud, his aura bright with love, peace, gratitude. The vet assured me he went down easy, and I sat with him and stroked his face for his last breaths.
I contacted my filly's breeder recently, but she is fighting cancer and trying to find homes for the last of her horses. So instead, even though I haven't been able to ride for the last couple years, am alone on my farm with wacky neighbors, don't have an appropriate place to start a youngster...I bit the bullet and started my girl. She's a good, good girl. Incredibly athletic and powerful. And sweet, sweet, sweet...
and thank you for asking!
