Too soon to make predictions?
Well, there are some strong feelings coming my way about the upcoming Presidential election that I want to share. Make of them what you will and I don't claim any special powers. But when thoughts nag at me, I sometimes listen. Well, for the longest time, I have been getting vibes that Elizabeth Warren will be our first woman President. But I've also been getting vibes that Bernie Sanders will win the 2016 election. These are contradictory thoughts I know. I am also getting the feeling that Bernie will only be a one term President, but I feel it's okay with him because his intent is to turn the country around and get it set on a path of a different destiny. He only needs one term to do that.
It would seem to me then that maybe Elizabeth Warren could be his Veep and she would pick up the second and third terms, or first and second for her. Although, it's not clear to me that she will be his Veep. Even if not, she still could run in 2020, if by then she has decided to run after all.
That's all. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

(23,156 posts)But what's your track record been in the past?
But I don't claim to have pipeline to the future. I put up this in the hopes that others in this group who have been getting nudges abut the future put up their predictions or even tell me I'm wrong.

(53,410 posts)But my feeling is that Bernie Sanders is changing this country in a fundamental way already. He doesn't have to be President to change everything. The thought I keep getting is that just like Sarah Palin unleashed the extremes of the right from whatever closet they were in, Bernie is bringing out the Progressives basically in the same way. Like Pandora's Box, I thing about her dismaying achievements as Palin's Box. What she turned this country into is monstrous. But that's how I see Bernie Sanders, as the right catalyst at the right time who doesn't necessarily know he's that kind of catalyst, any more than Sarah Palin did. He's just doing what he feels he needs to do. Win or lose.
We all know how, to our dismay, the tea party has moved our country to the extreme right. People like Ted Cruz are considered normal in our world now. Hatred in the form of breathtaking racism, homophobia, wanton killing of children in their classrooms and people in their churches is almost a 'normal' thing now. Bernie is here to swing that pendulum far to the left by setting a fire under Progressives who may have almost given up on seeing any real and meaningful changes for the better of humanity and the planet.
I happen to also feel that way about Pope Francis. He's a much needed catalyst that the world needs in order to save itself.
This is the only place I feel comfortable saying this. Anywhere else on DU I would be excoriated.

Since the future hasn't happened one can change it if you have the knowledge that something will most likely happen and the will to change it. I agree about the Pope making big changes although certain things within the Catholic Church will not change and will eventually bring about it's demise.

(53,410 posts)The kind of changes I'm thinking about are not about specifics such as politics or the Catholic Church. The Pope will make (and is making) fundamental changes that will aspect the health of the planet and humanity, and not religion specifically. He may even be here to cause the demise of the Catholic Church. I'm thinking of changes that are much more fundamental and relate to all of humanity and the planet itself.
Bernie is also not necessarily making specific changes to our political system, though that might happen, but if it does it will be part of a much larger fundamental sea change that affects humanity, maybe not right away, but in the long run. We are all only a part of a whole and we forget that. Maybe I'm trying to describe the butterfly effect.
Sarah Palin had that kind of butterfly effect on our country, only all she had to do was open her screeching mouth which was like a siren song to the extreme right. She changed everything and we're left reeling and aghast from it. Bernie might just yank us to the far left in the same way. He won't have to become President to do that and maybe that's what you're picking up.

(75,480 posts)lead in more than one direction like Bernie becoming President or maybe not and a catalyst for change for the next President as you suggest. As time goes on they do become much clearer as to what will probably happen.

(53,410 posts)We're obviously tapping into something. But we're just interpreting it differently because we basically have a limited brain due to it being completely physical. I believe in higher selves who give us information but our brains, or our minds, if you think in those terms, tend to 'interpret' with the limitations of our personal history. Your interpretation of Bernie being President is what triggered my urge to share my interpretation because of the rather strange way he's coming on the scene.
I think of Bernie as a force of Nature rather than as just merely a human being although I also think he isn't aware of it. I believe he just declared his candidacy because he felt compelled to do something extreme and the groundswell he has created even surprises him.
I do know that I had stopped coming to DU because you can see by my post count that I've been around during Presidential election years. The fighting gets insane and I simply wanted nothing to do with it. My politics are what Bernie's are. I'm a Democratic Socialist who believes my taxes should go to paying for free housing where needed, free education for every single citizen and free health care for all as well as free enterprise and Capitalism and elections. I'm not happy that instead it goes to maintaining the largest military behemoth in the history of humanity.
But Bernie woke me up the possibilities, much to my surprise, that we might actually save the planet and humanity and now I'm involved politically again.

(20,453 posts)I've missed seeing your posts around DU, not that I'm as avid a poster over the years as others certainly are. I understand why you said what you did.
I come here to post about astrology from time to time. I've followed it for many years. I believe that astrology explains a good deal about a transitioning era before the great "turning" of the next age. There are some particular persons who will foster that change. But, mostly it will our own changed attitudes that finally leave the old and usher what Sanders talks about.
I really wish I could live another 50 years to see what our efforts bring, but if I'm lucky, I'll live to near the middle of this century. I hope that OUR awakening is what we are talking about here.
And, I don't have psychic connections. I do have a connection at times to the guides around me. They say (never in dreams
always in silent moments) that there is a groundswell that I should be part of.

(53,410 posts)Thanks for remembering me. I've kind of dropped out what with the new Presidential election. I wasn't interested enough to wade through the guts and gore of the fights on DU so I backed off, but Bernie brought me right back! Suddenly I was very interested! Still am. But I'm not fighting about it. Thank God they separated General Discussion and General Discussion: Primaries. That was a brilliant move!
I might be able to live another 30 years since I'm 66 now. My mother's side of the family are long lived so it's possible. Of course, I hope I'm still alert and interested.

(1,823 posts)I have been having the very same thoughts and feeling for quite a while now.
I have been telling people that I want Bernie to run since 2008

(75,480 posts)Warren said she wouldn't, yet I was and am still getting feelings she will be our first woman President as well.

(6,449 posts)very very much. It seems so likely to me....but it very well could be wishful thinking.

(6,449 posts)it could happen, I certainly hope that it does!

I see him as one term but possibly two....and I see her as Madam President in time right after that.
