Anyone here heard of Matt Kahn?
My past-wife told me about him (several times, before I looked into his videos) and I do like his messages and teachings. Here's one of his videos to get a taste. There are shorter clips, but these are whole sessions and worth sitting through. You may not even notice the time

(23,156 posts)I'm not willing to spend over an hour watching unless I have a hint that it's something I'd actually be interested in.

(29,414 posts)and while the message is different in all of them, they still kind of blend together in my head. So, no, I can't summarize this one because I don't remember what's in it based solely on the title. Why not watch a few minutes of it, and if you like it, keep watching. I often stop them and finish watching later, partly for time and for bandwidth issues here.
Alternatively, there are some videos in his list that are short clips. Here's the page for everything they've uploaded. If you hit "Load More" at the bottom, you'll see many more of the clips.

A summary would be vastly appreciated.

(29,414 posts)Here's what I do when I'm listening to his videos: playing in Corel Painter, cleaning my kitchen, macrame, or anything which I can still accomplish while listening to what is essentially a podcast

(26,666 posts)I'm an extremely fast reader, but I can't listen any faster than the speed at which someone is speaking.
kentauros
(29,414 posts)I'm the exact opposite in that my reading speed is (I think) around 200 wpm. Basically, I read about as fast as I can talk. Thus, podcasts are no issue, or doing other slow things like art or baking.
As for this particular video by Matt, I probably won't go back to it as he is ever-evolving in his message. That's something I like for spiritual teachers, a willingness to dismiss past messages as one learns more or gains more insight.
Maybe you should do some mindfulness meditation to help you think slower
PoindexterOglethorpe
(26,666 posts)Nope. Although I do appreciate that your are offering sincerely intended advice.
The last time my reading speed was timed it was about 800 wpm, vastly faster than people talk.
However, it's not as though I never listen to the spoken word. Most days I listen to Fresh Air with Terry Gross, and while I'm listening I do embroidery. And when I go on long driving trips, about half a dozen times a year, I check out recorded books from the library and happily listen to them. I have a friend who puts various podcasts on her ipod, and when we're just driving somewhere she'll play something. What's especially nice about those times is that we then discuss whatever we listened to.
Please, please, do not think I'm simply rejecting your suggestion completely out of hand. This is just one that I'm going to pass on.

(29,414 posts)and listen to them on your trips? If you can listen to books and still drive, maybe you could for these videos. Something to consider, anyway. Maybe there's something to read on his website that would help.
I'm not trying to push it on anyone, but yes, it does require one to commit to at least an hour of listening time. Nonetheless, thanks for explaining your situation to me
PoindexterOglethorpe
(26,666 posts)but it's something I can check into.
Thanks.

(29,414 posts)First, download the video from Youtube. Normally, you can't do that, so there are sites such as Keepvid that let you download via the video-url for free (to multiple video formats.)
Second, with a media player such as VLC or PotPlayer, you can use one of the numerous functions built-in which allow you to capture the audio-track. I don't think Windows Media Player has this function, but I can't be sure, because I never use it
Or, I'll do it for you and post a link from my MediaFire account with the audio file. It would likely be in mp3 format. I may not be able to get to it until tomorrow or later this weekend, depending on how things go with my dentist tomorrow...

(26,666 posts)Because I still wouldn't know how to get it onto my ipod.
But I do appreciate your willingness to help out here.
kentauros
(29,414 posts)and don't know if an iPod can allow someone to simply drag and drop files onto it (I can do that with my Cowon Z2.) Maybe your friend who downloads podcasts can do it then
