an article that sort of changed my life

I stumbled upon this during a particularly rough patch in late Spring

http://www.aplaceinspace.net/Pages/JMOuters4.html

"Pluto asks more of Outerplanetary People than any of the transSaturnians: He asks to let go and trust while everything we value is ripped away from us..."

I particularly like:

Suffering is the flip side of joy. That which we cherish and lose we mourn deeply. Sorrow is a stopover to pay our respects at the graveside of past attachments, a step in the process of opening our hearts to greater love and opportunity. (Never was it said better than in the old adage: "Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." Even loss expands the heart's capacity for feeling emotion, especially love.)

You Can't Fight It

Based on this article I just recommended to a friend that her daughter talk to an astrologer. I'm a Scorpio, and recognized a few things, but I actually REALLY noticed a ton of issues having to do with my friend's daughter.

It gave me a whole lot of of insight.

I've been mistook for a Scorpio more than a couple times
I reckon because "Pluto is tightly woven into {my} astrological profile"

astrology can be therapeutic in a way
for myself I've been aided through some tough times thinking
"it's just a rocky transit, it won't last forever"

That's how you use html on DU. Put brackets with a b, like this (b) this would be bold (/b) and this wouldn't be bold -- if those were square brackets. I'll do that here:

this is bold and this is not bold

There's something called headings, but I can't remember how to do that. And then there is the quotation box, which is, if I can remember, (div class="excerpt&quot text here (/div)

That would look like this:

and you can do text color and italics and some other stuff I don't remember. Like font, size and on and on. But this text right here is in an indented shaded box, meant to be used for long quotations.

With Scorpio rising, 8th house Sun and Pluto currently transiting my natal Moon, I am grateful for coming across this article today. I think Pluto has been pretty much kicking my butt most of my life, it's so good to find out who the culprit is

Wow what a great link too, with many juicy articles to get into!

but I warn others that read this: it is GROSSLY overstated. Don't get nervous if you read this or take it too seriously. There are very valid points made, but in my experience, it is not given in perspective. With all respect.

how is it overstated?

when you say it's not given in perspective do you mean something along the lines of it doesn't account for specifics of how Pluto relates in a given individual's chart?

I have Pluto opposite Mars, square Sun, square Ascendant.

It assumes you can classify one as an Outerplanetary person - which is much more of a gray area than what is expressed.

From a great deal of experience, many people have lots of Pluto/Scorpio either natally or by transit and have mild, pleasant lives; she paints it as a curse.

Some people do experience the "curse" as she says, but it is created by the self.
Not exterior.

In every case, she over-states and over-generalizes. She has stated many truths but needs more experience with real people in real situations. In my opinion.

Your natal Mars Sun Ascendant needs to be carefully inspected by a good astrologer. Best of luck to you - thank you for bringing this article to our eyes.

Although the outright pain quotient is much diminished.

I have Pluto conjunct moon in Leo, 11th house, opposite Venus in Aquarius conjunct Mars in Pisces, 5th house. I also have Chiron within less than half a degree of my Cap sun in 4th house.

The thing about the 11-5 house division has always driven me crazy. I also have the moon's nodes there. I've never been able to figure out that meaning, because the houses are occupied by the signs that are naturally opposite. I mean, Leo is 5th house, and here it is in 11th, with one of the moon's nodes, and Aquarius is 11th house, here it is in 5th, with the other node. I forget which node is where. So in both cases, past and future, you have the qualities of both Aquarius and Leo blended, and I can't figure it out.

Rick has been helpful to me, but I am nowhere near out of the dark in this lifetime. I'm chronically ill, and can't seem to get better, and am on disability and married to someone who can barely tolerate me but who depended on me financially as long as I was able to work. Now, I'm not, and we are financially in trouble. My daughter has the same illness, and he completely invalidates it. My daughter and I have a great relationship, though.

So I stay at home and don't do much. It's really hard for me to get up and about. I took my daughter to NY City yesterday to see some Studio Ghigli movies. I was lucky, found a parking spot, but then tried to walk just a few blocks to a Barnes and Noble. Halfway there, I thought I was going to have to sit down on the sidewalk, my hips hurt so much. But that did pass enough for me to get where I was going. I can't clean up my room. Or my house.

There are certainly many lessons for me in my chart. I'm waiting. Maybe I'm surrendering too much? I certainly have had to let go of most things -- relationships, jobs, career. I spent two years or so essentially trapped in my house, because my car was broken and we couldn't fix it, and my husband enjoyed the control of refusing to let me use his car, which I had to pay for, of course. But don't tell him that! He's a totally spoiled baby. Now I've got my car back, but I really can't get around very much. I pay for everything I do, usually having to spend a few days in bed after any exertion. After Thanksgiving, I didn't get out of bed other than for water or bathroom until Sunday night. I've always considered myself to be quite a fighter, but I really seem to have no fight left.

The Chiron thing worries me, as it is the wounded healer who can't heal himself.

That's all. It is a good article. So is Liz Greene's book, The Astrology of Fate.

Consider your Moon/Mars/Venus as a very karmic 6th to 12th house arrangement. Houses weaken near their ends and start to influence the next house before they get there. The big issue is the 4th Sun Chiron opp 10th Uranus. I have Sun opp Ura across the ascendant.

Don't see the opposition as an opposition. One is WE one is ME. It's in the new book. So is the definition of the fight across all 6 axes. The "illness" is the Saturn conjunct Neptune as with mine and MS. It can be overcome.

The Chiron is your blessing. The most imp. stuff is the Moon facing down Pluto all the time (controlling parent). and the duel between 10 and 4. Going OUT and STAYING in....

Hope that helps some.
Hope you feel better
Merry Christmas

p.s. The thing about the book is that it is written in the old-fashioned CURSE style. What I mean is that I have plenty of clients that have those aspects and do just fine.

Moon facing down Pluto all the time (controlling parent) and the duel between 10 and 4? Going out and staying in?

It may be I can't hear it because I need to hear it, but it's going in one ear and out the other.

Is the controlling parent the moon or Pluto? My parents were so not controlling! My mother was controlling in a general way, of my father, certainly, of the world, which she wanted to change, but not of me. My father was utterly detached, Aquarian. Mom Aries.

In her struggle with my father, she was indeed controlling. We children stood apart from that.

I was a very good little girl, very good little student, never made any trouble. At least, not that she knew about. Of course, as soon as I grew up, I started getting myself into trouble!

The way I feel about all this is that my troubles lie somewhere with the interface between my personality and the group -- the 11th house. I feel totally misunderstood by all groups, always the outsider, and when I do work up the nerve to speak up, I'm always taken wrong, misunderstood.

I used to be an actress, and I was really very good at that. People liked me on stage. And I usually get along well with people individually. I get along very well with people from other countries and cultures. But I never really fit in with the home group. Have always been an outsider when it comes to the group.

There was a fellow once, he was the manager of the local amateur theater group in my home town, and then later the local professional company, which he started. At my very first performance in a play at that theater, when I was 17, he attacked me one night after the show, tried to force himself upon me. I shoved him off, rejected him. Basically kicked him off of me, off of the couch, where had literally thrown me down. From that day on, but unbeknownst to me, he blacklisted me in the theaters he controlled. I sometimes wondered at roles I didn't get that I thought I should have, but I never fussed about it. And I still got plenty of wonderful roles. Years later, a director finally told me that he had been forbidden to cast me in a particular role. It was okay for me to be cast in a bit part. And I poked around and found out, yes, he had been doing that all along. He couldn't keep me down completely, but he certainly did interfere.

He recently sent me a friend request on Facebook. !!!???!!! I never responded. I was tempted to expose him. He has always had a bad reputation regarding females. He exerted control over me and interfered with my career in a way that may have finally shut it down. Certainly reduced my horizons. But I was unaware of it while it was happening.

So, all my angst these days still seems to be between me and the group. And I have a great need to do work that does some good somewhere. I stumbled into a brief career at the UN (11th house, yes?) -- cut short by my health -- and what I did most successfully while I was there was to help individuals through the bureaucracy, people from NGOs, or indigenous peoples, other outsiders who were there to try to accomplish something.

I would really like to figure out how to help my daughter improve her health. I'm quite clear on your strongest recommendation to me, but I am physically not up to it. I can't walk very far, but I am not in a wheelchair, which might actually be good for me. It could be liberating, oddly enough. When I do do something, pretty much anything -- go to the grocery store, or do any shopping, or prepare a special meal, or take my daughter to New York, or go to the doctor -- I end up in bed for days and days and days, and just can't get up. The most basic, essential things that need to be taken care of, I cannot take care of.

Boy, I'm making it sound so awful. I apologize. Lately, I have been very marginally more functional, so maybe I shall manage to do something to change this situation after all.

I'm always left with this big feeling that there is something I am just not getting. Synchronicity used to be a very big part of my life, and then one day it went away.

Really, I think the most important thing for me to do at the moment, as I can only manage one thing at a time, is to be here for my daughter. But she is soon to be off to college, and then I will have less to do with the little bit of get-up-and-do-anything that I have.

Enough!

Edit to say: Many thanks, Rick. And may you have a delightful holiday, solstice and new year.

(I wish I could get my astrology books out of the attic, but the ladder to the attic is broken and we can't get up there!)
