☦ Orthodox Christian Bright Week of Pascha

Christ Is Risen!
Truly He Is Risen!

'Troparion of the Resurrection':
"Christ is Risen from the dead,
Trampling down Death by death,
And upon those in the tombs,
Bestowing Life!"

John 10:10 New King James Version (NKJV)
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Because of the cruel, agonizing death by crucifixion, death is brought about, not by blood loss, but from the body slumping or collapsing and no longer able to draw breath. The final shifting of the body caused the footrest to slant.
