Embracing the work of Christmas
From the article:
Howard Thurman, the theologian, author and civil rights leader, wrote a beautiful poem called The Work of Christmas that can help move American Christians from the commercialism of Christmas and into the heart of Jesus message for the world:
When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flock,
The work of Christmas begins:
To find the lost,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among people,
To make music in the heart.
Faith is work, after all.
When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flock,
The work of Christmas begins:
To find the lost,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among people,
To make music in the heart.
Faith is work, after all.

(20,548 posts)1. So very beautiful and in simplicity.
His work is still being carried out, sometimes unseen. Not with fanfare or tooting of personal horns.
Our world from His Incarnation has gone way astray. The only thing we should in preparation anticipate is "Come Lord, quickly. Maranatha!"

It's so good to know that a loving, inclusive God lives in the hearts of some people.

is that the Creator and creation are inseparable.
It is our challenge to live our faith.
