Came across an interesting new liberal faith-based group, Vote Common Good.
Vote Common Good has a number of progressive faith leaders on the board. They just put out a video that interviews a number of people who voted the wrong way in 2016 but have awakened to how bad that choice was. [Having trouble with the link. Hope it works this time.

I thought those interviews were very interesting and encouraging.
I hope their words will make those who say things like "I'll never forgive anyone who voted for Trump!" realize that there's hope for many former Trump voters and make room for them to change their minds.
Historically after the Civil War and World War I, the harsh treatment the losers were subjected to spawned hostility that led to a new generation of conflict. Those who say they'll never forgive may just be venting, I hope. It's understandable but not necessarily wise.
The reasonable and even generous Marshall Plan after WWII and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission after the end of apartheid show ways to stop the legacy of bitterness. I hope that crimes will be prosecuted but also that there will be our own version of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission committed to bringing everything into the light. Not just actual crimes but also unethical or unwise actions. The toxic stew needs the disinfectant of a bright light and unexpected and undeserved grace.

Not all who voted for Trump are racists, or greedy. Some truly wanted to believe that Trump could do what he said that he would do.

Vote Common Good may be on to something!

But if we can speak to the other side, we might have productive dialogue with some.
