Many Christians are 'almost in despair' over what Trump has done to their faith: evangelical leader
Russell Moore, a former president of the Southern Baptist Convention, said in an interview with Semafor recently that many evangelical Christians are secretly sick and tired of expending so much energy defending former President Donald Trump.
Moore said that, at its heart, this weariness comes from trying to reconcile the Bible's instructions for how to behave with the former president's allegedly criminal activities, not to mention his long history of alleged sexual harassment and infidelity.
"Im hearing every day from evangelical Christians who are exhausted and almost in despair over the state of American Christianity," he told the publication. "They know something has gone terribly wrong but they are losing hope that anything could be different."
Moore went on to add that he believes "Trump to be a unique threat, both to American institutions and to the churchs witness."

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

thanks Marble
many of us forget that our faith goes with us wherever we may be. this forum is a good example, we can testify what makes us tick in detail which may normally not be allowed in some venues.
blessings forever.

(6,088 posts)A good metaphor for understanding the dilemmas faced by evangelicals who helped put and keep tRump in power.
I hope all those christofascists getting worked up to take over the world meet the same fate as the crusaders.
Thanks for the articles and links!

(46 posts)Yes, but I propose that progressive and liberal Christians stand up for their faith, say that we're Christian and pro-choice, pro-environment, feminist, LGBTQ+ celebratory, and value other religions. If we hide, then the evangelicals will represent Christianity by themselves, and all will be lost.
Thanks,
