there's a reason why car insurance there charges extra if you want coverage for volcanic ash.

Iceland is an amazing place to visit. I hope to go again after the volcanoes quiet down.

eruption, including one from a helicopter. Terrifyingly beautiful. Thank goodness the decision to let people back into their homes for christmas had not been made.

who must've drawn the short straw last night and got sent up on the hill in lousy weather just in case. I guess when the quakes hit, he started checking for smoke, found it, and caught the video shot of a lifetime.

The fissures are still growing, although more slowly. One is reportedly a little more than 2 Km from the edge of Grindavik.

All roads to the peninsula, including the road from the capital to the airport, are closed, announcements keep saying "This is not a tourist eruption." This one's bigger and more serious.
