Gary Womack, 60, of Woodburn, pleaded guilty to three felony violations of the federal Archaeological Resources Protection Act in March after a three-year investigation into his crimes.

Womack was sentenced to 15 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Greg Stivers on Wednesday.

During sentencing, Stivers told Womack that he was disturbed that the defendant had chosen to dig the graves of the ancestors of Native Americans for profit.
