My old watering hole was the Heidelberg! But alas only Homo Sapiens sapiens were patrons.

except they were taller than most of us and had larger heads that held bigger brains.

The fossil record in NW Africa shows we evolved 300,000 years ago, but barely and probably not in sufficient numbers to get to Europe.
