Atheists & Agnostics
Related: About this forumHoly Shitstorm, Batman!
I just saw Ron Reagan's FFRF "Unabashed Atheist" commercial on CNN.
During the day.
And it's almost Easter.
I don't watch much TV and usually avoid CNN like the plague, but this seems like a pretty gutsy move for them.
Personally, I thought it was freaking outstanding but that's just me. I did the google and sure enough, found some hilarious poutrage. How DARE he dishonour his sainted father like that!!1?!
Just sign me bmus, Lifelong atheist. Not afraid of burning in hell...

(22,437 posts)"The Freedom From Religion Foundations Founder and President is Mikey Weinstein, a self-hating Jew who could very well be the most caustic, rabid Christian hater on the planet. Despite his denials, the Occupants administration has contacted him on several occasions asking him to serve as a religious tolerance consultant, the irony of which is but a tiny glimpse of Obamas mental illness. However, Mikeys crown jewel is his organized attack on Christians in every branch of our armed forces.
He states I founded the civil rights fighting organization the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) to do one thing: fight those monsters who would tear down the Constitutionally-mandated wall separating church and state in the technologically most lethal entity ever created by humankind, the U.S. military.
They don't look too deeply into things....
FFRF and MRFF are two different organizations, people!

Oh, and as usual, the comments are priceless...
I know God as so much more than just a life force, but if an atheist is told that God is the energy that gives us life, do they reason that they do not currently exist? Their intolerance to reality is unreasonable. Do not argue with them. Their anger at the God they do not believe in makes as much sense as a sane person being angry at the Easter Bunny.

(12,799 posts)First they monger the fear then they pass the collection plate and then they sing about the lost chord (which is a real real thing, by the way). It's one of those things that exist beyond the boundaries of satire. Crowd mania (the holy ghost in motion, if you will) is really quite a spectacle and I think a rich mine for exploration of the human psyche, if we'd dare to go there.

(57,349 posts)For me it's more like a safari.
If only I was unethical enough to exploit their gullibility for personal gain (I guess one needs to be a christian to do that).

(12,799 posts)I have long suspected the Apostle Paul was the original religious con man. But no, he probably had a predecessor.
I toy with the idea that Ron L. Hubbard was Paul's reincarnation.
Random thoughts I have sometimes.
Enjoy your safari and bring the funny bits back to us here.

BTW, your little icon is making my cat crazy.

(57,349 posts)I think that's the real reason they want to edit out the last part, it's not the comment about hell, it's the fact that they know he's laughing at their feeble threats of eternal damnation.
Glad your fur kid likes Hello Cthulhu; she has a lot of miles on her but I love her more than ever.

(18,219 posts)If I were thinking of any edits, it would be the very beginning where he says "alarmed by intrusions" of religion. I love this ad, but I thought that part was too extreme....and his facial expressions are like he just ate a lemon. The hell part rocks.

I can't tell which is going to get the most lulz - the "Illuminati in America" section or the "LGBT Mafia" page. Only time will tell...
