I have not been called to serve on a DU Jury since Nov 10. My profile states I am "Willing" to serve with a 98% chance of serving, but it sorta looks like I am not "Eligible" to serve because of a comment that I don't even recall making. Or maybe that comment is not blocking me but just serves as an example of what might disqualify you from serving. See below.
Jury
Willing to serve on Juries: Yes
Eligible to serve on Juries: No (Reason: Jury comment: "Starry Messenger is a total dick."
Chance of serving on Juries: 98%
Just wondering if there has been a significant decrease in alerting or if it's just coincidence? You watch, I'll probably be asked to serve on a Jury later today.

(3,595 posts)I sometimes piss people off. They (may) put me on their jury block.
That may have happened to you.

(48,181 posts)The admins made this change a few months ago. It appears to be a one strike and out policy. IMHO it was implemented to obscure how much the alert button is abused by terrifying jurors into not saying anything remotely abusive about abusive alerters.

(9,664 posts)but it's wierd that I don't even recall saying that Starry Messenger is a total dick. Maybe it was alcohol-induced, but I am getting close to 60.
I have complained rather bitterly and repeatedly in the Jury Comments when I thought the Alert system was being abused, but I guess those were ok.
Oh well. Thanks for the explanation. There is usually a reason if you dig deep enough.

(4,033 posts)...and after a Fall 2015 spike in Jury duty, for me, the frequency seems to have plateaued.
(likely due more to my sign-in rate verses a fluctuation in alerts)
I had prepared a summary of my first 70 juries, as posted below:
(I've been looking for a proper place to post this, and hopefully the formatting won't be to messed up.
I thought people might find it interesting)

(4,033 posts)...and summarized the data evaluation in word.
The excel file has a bunch of "countifs" and "sumifs".
My summary report in word is where my editing skills failed, hence all the post edits/revisions.
I have all the links to the alerted posts but wasn't sure if including them was necessary or appropriate.

(468 posts)Both voted not to hide and both posts weren't hidden. Both instances were basically "this person disagreed with me and was a little bit rude hide it!" Both times I made comments along the lines of censorship is da ebil, stahp eet.

(113,130 posts)I think I've voted to hide maybe two posts in the last six months (and they were BAD). Most of the alerts are now coming from GDP and I'm not shy about telling alerters that if they want to swim in a cesspit, they'd better get used to the smell of shit. Or more delicate phrased words to that effect.
Love the sig line.

(12,132 posts)in the last month and change. I almost always vote to leave unless it's something just too despicable. I always leave a note to explain why I voted the way I did and half the time it is a rude note pointing out the fact that the alerter was an idiot.

(34,582 posts)for the first time I clicked "don't ask me again". This primary season sucks, and is making most of DU suck. I hope it doesn't flow into here
