Religion..ugh!

http://www.reuters.com/article/russia-murder-child-idUSKCN0W40Z1

A woman suspected of beheading a child in her care before brandishing the severed head outside a Moscow metro station said on Wednesday Allah had ordered her to commit the crime.

Police on Monday wrestled to the ground Gulchekhra Bobokulova, a 38-year-old divorced mother of three from the Muslim-majority ex-Soviet state of Uzbekistan, after she wandered around a Moscow street holding the infant's severed head in the air and shouting Islamist slogans.

Eyewitnesses said at the time they believed she was carrying out a terrorist act, but since her detention, Russian investigators have raised the possibility she might be suffering from mental illness.

Investigators said she had been working as a nanny for a Moscow family and that she had murdered and beheaded one of the children in her care before setting fire to the family flat and fleeing.

Yes yes yes.... she's obviously nuts. But why are so many insane people extremely religious? Does it offer a convenient excuse to finally act on their hallucinations?

To not only justify and perpetuate mental illness, but also give rise to it in the first place. Sin, guilt, control, power, etc. Telling people that not only is OK to ignore what your reason and senses are telling you, but that it's a sign of great faith and belief to do so!

Religion doesn't necessarily cause psychological problems, but it is an effective means of hiding/masking many of these disorders which then subsequently fester and get worse, often with catastrophic consequences as seen here.

she is certainly suffering from mental illness.

But why are so many insane people extremely religious? Good question. The filters are all gone. One wonders, if there were no religion around, how would these insane people be acting? Just crazy?

Non religious nutters focus on aliens, the CIA, and other secular mind game players and bogeymen. It's easy to think nutters are naturally religious because the religious ones outnumber the secular ones.

This is such a horrible story all around.
