It's the way of the old Roman Empire, kick noted (or notorious, take your pick) people upstairs to become demigods.

Not my business. I just sort of shake my head in tired disbelief that anyone still buys this bullshit and move on.

.. if I had raised millions upon millions of dollars and then just handed it all over to the Vatican, the Catholic Church would would make ME a saint, too! And I'm not Catholic. I'm not even Christian.
It makes sense when you consider that the Catholic Church is not a religious organization, it's a bank. And always has been.
Making her a sainte is the same as giving her a free toaster for her deposit.

On the plus side, at least it was a break from Trump coverage.

Clearly there's a lot more here than some vendetta on the part of Christopher Hitchens, but some people refuse to see that.

Incidentally, a grand-nephew of Mother Theresa's was one of my best friends when I was in graduate school. He was an atheist (even before I was), not particularly impressed with his great aunt, and he hid the fact that he was related to MT because of the way religious people acted around him when they found out.

She made sure she had access to the medicine and treatments that she denied all her patients.

Fucking hypocrite.
