Atheists Urge People to Quit the Catholic Church in Full-Page New York Times Ad

Atheists Urge People to Quit the Catholic Church in Full-Page New York Times Ad

If you open up the print edition of the New York Times this week, you should be seeing this full-page ad from the Freedom From Religion Foundation encouraging readers to “consider quitting the Catholic Church.”

FFRF’s ad quotes excerpts from the Pennsylvania grand jury’s report before summarizing their argument:

Six dioceses, three hundred predatory priests, a staggering 1,000-plus victims. No bishops indicted.

The pope’s response? All words, no action — except, insultingly, to call on the faithful to “pray and fast.”

As an early church whistleblower put it, the Catholic Church appears to be “an organization preaching morality while providing sanctuary to perverts,” a church where shepherds routinely prey on their flock.

Three decades of preying priests, church complicity, collusion and cover-up going all the way to the top. Anyone who continues to support this morally bankrupt global syndicate is complicit. This institutional betrayal of trust epitomizes the dangers of blind faith and obedience to religious authority.

but the issue seems to come from same place so much else 'horrorshows' come from. Example, 99 % of domestic autos should have been ELECTRIC using compressed air batteries going back to immediate post dubya dubya 2...that's a fact! The goof called Mr Pig besides giving us Trumpotus, were the evil genie who sabatogued normal tech development, and created the oily mess we have today, and their newsmedia made it possible by fibbing etc ...well you see what happened! (i need to mention nuclear development too; civilian nuke powere was NEVER truly possible, the very ground the plants built on become radioactive within hundred years - the main reason for 'too cheap to meter' nuke power was to create pluto for bombs, and that's what the pigs did, in defiance of humanity!) I'm old man now, 68 years old but sex abuse of kids by priests is a police matter, like 911 was and the murders of FDR JFK, rev King, Malcolm and the Saintly Che (sob) not to mention Robbie was!! The pig has 5 $trillion more oil to swell before the hole become 'greener than thou,'
The RC church has been bs'ing us since, well since St Pter built the Vatican! They pretended the poor priests were celebate when that borders on impossible! And so they pretended nature was just an obedient kid!

note: the Dons at British private schools like Eton Oxford etc were supposed to be celebate too, and look how that worked!

But it wasn't because of this scandal. I just could no longer believe in made up bullshit.

Some people may be outraged at the church, but they still believe in made up bullshit. Rapes by priests does not prove that god doesn't exist.

When I think back on all that crap I learned in parochial school, I realize my mind was raped. I recovered, but there are many who are still victims.

But the very least they should do is quit the organization that engaged in an organized cover-up of child rape on a massive scale.

They can believe in made-up bullshit at a church that cares more about children than the people who rape children.

The very least.

It might calm the urges of some priests, but they would still be in close proximity to young bodies and minds, and pedophilia and infantophilia were around long before the church.

The Catholic church has to stop covering up these crimes. Could it be that not enough new people want to become priests, which is perhaps why the church has to hang on to what and who they already have? Regardless of how many children they assault?

Something like this that is so deeply entrenched will take a long time to expunge.

I'm proud to be a lifetime member of FFRF. Looking forward to the November convention in San Francisco.
