Listening to atheist podcasts: SOP: The gullible thesists can't think. Result:
The same thing happens every time: Some theist starts off challenging the athiest with some lame argument or story that is supposed to stump the atheist, and they wind up totally confused, unable to follow even the simplest logical train of thought.
Some of them wither on the vine and the atheists let them off easily and move on to the next call. Some get nasty and angry and have to be turned off air because they just scream and keep moving the goal posts and trying to confuse the illogical nonsense they started out with.
I'm seeing why these people are falling into cults: they're too stupid to live on their own, and they know it.
Now, some of them have enough ego to realize that as a group, the members of their congregations are disadvantaged in some way and their dependencies have made them more vulnerable to con artists.
You can hear in their voices, when their arguments are immediately unhinged, that they thought they had found the proof that they, alone, personally, had found the one little rare patch of belief territory that a smart person could hold and maintain, thereby granting them all the religious goodies (afterlife, and amelioration of pain and loneliness) while rising above the dearth of helplessness and immaturity of their pew-mates.
But they don't. Because the atheist immediately locates the breach in their logic and feeds it back to them in their own language (usually biblical) and shows the theist the ridiculousness of their argument.
Basically, religion is, by definition, irrational, so, therefore, it's almost unfair that theists can use social media and podcasts to reach a smart, available atheist and prove their own cluelessness. Rationality never leads to religiosity. Using rational arguments to support religious faith can never work. But it's fun to hear them try. And fail.
And the best part is, when they are just about to hang up, the atheists tell them they are already better than their "god" and don't ask them for anything: Not money, not apology, not acceptance, nothing. The atheists wish them well, and invite them back! They're treated better by the atheists than by their own shameful, judgemental pew-mates.
It really isn't fair! Lol! They'll never know how lucky they are that atheists aren't using them for any nefarious purposes, because they're such easy marks.
I heard the former President of American Atheists, David Silvermann, say "There's an atheist in every pew. We just want them to know we're here for them." I think he's right.
