It gives one a reason to make others smaller and more insignificant. It gives a reason to wage war on a small or large scale. It gives us power over the masses... plus Christmas cookies.
I'll miss Saturn, Jupiter, Sol Invictus, Elagabaal and a christmas pudding.
But alas, as they say, "When I was a child I spoke, acted and thought as a child. But when I became an adult I put away childish things." Humm, where did I hear that?
