1. Prior to our divorce. . .

My ex tried to use the suicide of a friend to bring me back to Christ. "You know the reason that Roxann killed herself. . ." (followed by standard Christian talking points.)

After I was unreceptive to these talking points, he got frustrated and stalked away muttering something of a mocking nature about me, "having all the answers." I called after him and said, "No, I don't have all the answers. . ." And in my head, I had the clear, worded thought: I don't need all the answers. All I need are the questions.

The irony of my spouse's accusation was in the fact that he wanted me to blithely accept that he had all the answers, because he was speaking for Jesus.

He was clearly pissed off that the shock of learning of my friend's suicide didn't bring me back to The Lord. But to give him his due, when I got off the phone after having been told about it and he asked me what happened, his first -- beautifully human reaction-- was to hold me.
