Atheists & Agnostics
Related: About this forumSo, what's going on with Matt Dillahunty and the ACA?
The ACA is the Atheist Community of Austin.
They do a popular YouTube show called the Atheist Experience. Matt was one of the most popular hosts but there have been many hosts throughout the show's history. He's a real firebrand and hangs up on rude theist especially when they are lying.
He said on the show he would no longer host and he's saying he's not supporting the ACA on another show he does. Which is kind of strange since he is a former office holder of the ACA and he has supported the ACA for decades.
Anyway, does anyone have inside info on this?

If that link doesn't work, then he had some sort of brouhaha with the ADA leadership but he's still going to continue his mission without them.
I just wonder what the disagreement was about.
He says there's no reason to ask or guess, or spread rumors.
Does he not understand human nature? What does he think humans are going to do? Talk about it, guess and spread rumors......of course.

(63,164 posts)the more recent stuff after Matt and the previous group had a blow up a few years back - 3 years ago maybe?
You may remember that group - it included folks like Don Baker, Russell Glasser, Jen Peeples and Tracy Harris.
I never really heard the full story - just some droppings. from what I could gather Matt said something on the air on Sunday and was asked by the others after the show to make a public apology for it. He refused and they all quit. At least that is what I seemed to glean through some stories I read.
Since then I have pretty much quit watching the new stuff and am going back through the old stuff on Youtube.
Of that previous group I really liked Tracy Harris. Her reasoning was so grounded in real life. One of my favorite comments she gave to one caller who said something about how most people wondered about the "great questions" such as God and an after life. Harris responded "most people just worry about a place to live and having enough money to eat." Very sound.
I may check in next week and see what their next evolution may be.
I see Matt has posted a video explanation. I am listening to it as I am posting:

(11,308 posts)Seems quitting over apologies is something the ACA does a lot? Because it seems there was supposed to be apologies and e-mails and explanations and communications that never happened. Something to do with the LGBTQIA+ community? Maybe? Too convoluted for me. But now there really isn't anyone at the ACA show that I want to watch anymore.
Anyway, I was wondering what ever happened to Don Baker, Russell Glasser, Jen Peeples and Tracy Harris. I liked them a lot. They rounded out Matts sharp edges and made the discussions interesting.
My favorite Tracy-ism was "What is nothing? We don't have a "nothing" to look at and compare it to something."

(63,164 posts)Sounds like the previous blow ups involved apologies expected and not given.
My best guess is that Matt is on a mission and he was working with people nowhere near as - uh - committed.
In the previous iteration - the Glasser, Baker, Harris, Peeples group I think for them it was kind of a part-time fun thing to do whereas Matt was on a mission.
Well, things always change. Matt will be doing his own thing and it may be interesting to see what he does.
I have tried to find Tracy around, but all I have seen is a couple of videos and that is about it.
